Tarpon Springs

Welcome to beautiful and historic Tarpon Springs, a cultural oasis.  Each month celebrate First Friday and enjoy the unique flavors and sounds of this community.  January brings the famous Epiphany celebration.  Visit the world famous sponge docks and enjoy the Greek food and culture.

“The Sponge Capital of the World” is not only known for its rich Greek culture but also its historic charm in architecture throughout the city. Take a stroll through the sponge docks and stop for an authentic Greek meal or view the sponge diver’s catch of the day in one of the closest replicas of a Greek island port in America. Tarpon Springs has a vast array of housing options from scenic, bayou front, Victorian era estates to brand-new town homes. Tarpon Springs was named for its abundance of the fish found in nearby waters and is truly a fisherman’s ideal home. This city offers multiple options for boating storage in marinas as well as local bait shops and fresh fish markets scattered along its 51 miles of waterfront. If the beach is where you’re looking to spend your weekends, Tarpon Springs has two gorgeous beaches that are easily accessible by car as well as remote Anclote Island (home of the Anclote lighthouse) accessible by boat. Its charming downtown area has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places where you can stroll along brick streets while browsing in antique stores, art galleries, and specialty shops housed in buildings dating from the late 1800s. In recent years, Tarpon Springs has developed into a place for young professionals to call home as well, with craft beer breweries, restaurants, and bars adding to the city’s allure. Tarpon Springs is located just 20 minutes from Clearwater and about 45 minutes from either Tampa or St. Pete, making it convenient for travel and exploring Florida’s bigger cities.

Two Gulf-front communities in Tarpon Springs are Pointe Alexis North & Pointe Alexis South

Tarpon Springs is known for its delicious Greek cuisine. One of my favorite restaurants is located on the Sponge Docks called Yiannis. Click here to see the Yianni’s experience.
